With so many after school programs to choose from, Aniylah’s days are packed with activities like cheerleading and student council, where she has a voice in school decisions. Unique opportunities in classes like theater also allow her to try something entirely new, pushing her beyond her comfort zone.

Her school fosters fun while upholding rigorous academic expectations. Notably, Aniylah’s teachers work to ensure students get the kind of personalization needed to succeed. When she’s struggling, her teachers try different ways to explain a concept until it clicks; when an assignment comes easily, her teachers push her to go above and beyond.High expectations and individualized support allow Aniylah to thrive. She confidently navigates her school work, while shining in many extracurricular roles, filled with Panther Pride.

Mr. Alexander’s roots run deep at CICS Longwood Elementary. His journey from student to Special Education teacher is a testament to our school's legacy. He recalls the incredible teachers who originally inspired his drive to serve the Longwood community—many of whom are still here, and who he now proudly calls his colleagues and friends. This cycle of commitment and community, where alumni return to the place that shaped them, reinforces our mission to nurture the next generation of compassionate leaders and emphasizes what it means when we say school feels like family.

Because Mr. Alexander knows how important it is for every student to have a role model, he participates in various after-school opportunities, often running clubs open to more students. These activities allow him to meet and interact with students outside of his classroom walls, ensuring he can leave a positive imprint on learners he might not otherwise teach and demonstrating that the community's support extends to everyone.

CICS Longwood Elementary feels like home to Janiah, a fourth-grader who began her educational journey just down the hall at CICS Loomis. Janiah's drive and love for school stem from the encouragement and care of her teachers. Teachers like Ms. Francoeur cultivate a classroom community where trust and strong relationships are paramount to student success. Teachers take time to get to know students beyond academics, making Janiah and her peers feel seen and heard, and creating a comfortable space to ask for help or discuss challenges.

Beyond teacher connections, student-to-student relationships are equally vital. From basketball in gym class, to performing on stage with the dance team – students build new friendships and strengthen existing bonds. It's within this supportive network that students are truly invested in and excited for each other – like a family at school!
